Et av Europas mest spennende orkestre feirer 25 år!
Trondheim Jazzorkester har siden «mirakelkonserten» med Chick Corea og Erlend Skomsvoll på Moldejazz i 2000 utviklet seg til å bli et av de ledende store jazzensembler i Europa. De er kjent for å komme opp med stadig nye prosjekter og besetninger, og gjennom denne åpne musiker-poolen har orkestret vist en stor bredde og kvalitet i sitt arbeid.
Orkesteret er kjent for samarbeid med internasjonale legender som Chick Corea, Pat Metheny og Joshua Redman, men også norske komponister og utøvere som Erlend Skomsvoll, Eirik Hegdal, Maria Kannegaard, Kirsti Huke, Hanna Paulsberg, Marius Neset, Espen Berg og Marianna Sangita, for å nevne noen.
Orkesteret har også motatt to Spellemannspriser, med Marius Neset for «Lion» i 2014 og med GURLS for «OUI» i 2022.
I 2025 skal TJO feire 25 års jubileum med ei rekke spennende og unike konserter:
8. mai 2025 - Trondheim Jazzfest
Til årets Jazzfest kommer Trondheim Jazzorkester med en spesialsydd besetning for å kaste et blikk tilbake på historien fra de siste 25 årene. På denne jubileumskonserten får vi høre nye og gamle komposisjoner av Hanna Paulsberg, Erlend Skomsvoll, Marianna Sangita Røe, Eirik Hegdal og avtroppende kunstnerisk leder Ole Morten Vågan, som har ledet orkesteret de siste åtte årene!

Artist in Residence for 2025 will be the Trondheim Jazz Orchestra!
In connection with Trondheim Jazz Orchestra celebrating its 25th anniversary, Moldejazz has chosen to highlight the orchestra, which is one of the strongest platforms in Norway for the development of contemporary jazz. We are very pleased and excited to look forward to this collaboration and the concert experiences it will bring to our audience in 2025.
Trondheim Jazz Orchestra is one of the most important and creative jazz ensembles in Norway.
Since its inception in 2000, the orchestra has undertaken numerous exciting projects with both Norwegian and international jazz profiles such as Chick Corea, Pat Metheny, Joshua Redman, Erlend Skomsvoll, Eirik Hegdal, Sofia Jernberg, Maria Kannegaard, Kim Myhr, Jenny Hval, Stian Westerhus, Ståle Storløkken, Kristoffer Lo, and Marius Neset.
The orchestra is part of the Midtnorsk Jazzsenter, which initiates and organizes new projects. The Trondheim Jazz Orchestra operates as a musician pool, where the lineup and size change from project to project. This flexibility allows for a great variety in their repertoire. The musicians involved with the orchestra are among the most renowned jazz profiles in Norway.
Trondheim Jazz Orchestra has had a strong bond, a solid connection, and a close collaboration with Moldejazz, which the festival wishes to expand and further develop during their Artist in Residence period in 2025.
